I want an Om tattoo, but everyone says that tattoos have to have a special meaning to the person receiving them.
An Om, according to the ancient scripts of the Vedic civilization, is the sound of life. Om is not a word but rather an intonation that transcends barriers of age, race, culture and even species. It is the infinite vibration that shimmers through the Universe, providing life and sustenance to everything. If repeated correctly, it can resonate throughout the body so that the sound penetrates to the center of one’s soul. Om is the beginning and will continue till the end; the one constant that unites all of creation at its deepest level.
And I think that’s why I want an Om, it’s just so beautiful.
